As a Libertarian, I believe that the government should have a limited role in the economy and in the lives of citizens. However, this does not mean that we are indifferent to the issue of blight. In fact, we believe that the key to fighting blight is to empower individuals and communities to take action on their own.
Instead of relying on government regulations and restrictions on property use and development, we believe in giving property owners the freedom to use and develop their property as they see fit, without undue interference from government.
Moreover, we believe in supporting community-led efforts to clean up and revitalize neighborhoods, and in encouraging local private initiatives to purchase and redevelop blighted properties. This could include tax incentives for property owners who invest in their properties or grants for community organizations that take on blight removal projects.
As your Commissioner, I will work to reduce government regulations and encourage voluntary solutions to blight. I will fight to protect individual property rights and promote community-led efforts to revitalize our neighborhoods. Together, we can build vibrant, thriving communities that are free from blight and that empower individuals to take control of their own lives.
